I have some books I'd like to get rid of, any recommendations for a second-hand bookshop I could take them to? In or around the city would be best, mainly I just need to be able to get to it via public transport.
They're nothing special, a bunch of paperbacks, mixture of fiction and non-fiction. They're just taking up space and I'm not expecting much from them, a few bucks would do.

Does anyone have the recipe for Southern Baked Beans from Riverbelle Terrace? Or know exactly what brand/flavor of beans they use? The employees told us it was Bush’s white beans in vegetarian sauce, but the closest thing we could find at the grocery store was *not* the same... different flavor altogether.
Is it true that Disneyland City Hall gives out recipes for any food/dish/beverage in the park?
Hi :)
This morning while dodging raindrops I noticed my neighbours have put a washing machine on their kerb with a note saying 'free to good home - still working'. So if anyone is needing a washing machine and has the means to come grab it...It's in Bald Hills, email me at sarajanesmoose@hotmail.com for a specific address as I have this thing about posting my address on such an open site
Happy washing
Hi All,
Would anyone know please where I would get my hands on a heap of butcher's paper? (Besides the butchers, I'm sure they get sick of being asked). Enough to cover, say, an entire wall of a room.
Ta :)
Hey everyone merry xmas.
I am wondering if anyone knows of any events or things to do (at a low cost) that are on over this long weekend. We are keen photographers also.
Looking for interesting place to visit that we may not know about or need reminding about.
Have done the museum and art galley resently.
Have a great holiday.
Hey guys,My Mum got rear-ended near the BP on the corner of Oxley Road and Cook Street, next to the BP at around 6.30ish tonight
I'm sketchy on the details, but she was driving our red Mazda 3, and she didn't get the other persons numberplate.
I realise this is a long (long long long long long) shot, but did anybody happen to see anything?
I'll try and update this with more details later, but I've already called the BP and apparently their cameras don't look on the side of the road where the accident happened (and it's not CSI, so they can't magically alter the video footage to look to the right and zoom in).
It wouldn't be so bad, but we only just got the car back from the shop three days ago for a similar thing :(
Nevermind, he didn't have insurance anyway!
My daughter is in love with llamas. I was wondering if anyone knew where to find a plush llama? We do have a little fuzzy alpaca made from alpaca fur that she loves that came from Montville but somewhere closer would be super handy. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
And now I go to sing the llama song
I know this isn't Brisbane-related, and could be considered advertising, however you guys have been so helpful to me over the years, I thought I would share this with you.
Victoria's Secret have started their stocktake sale today, up to 70% off a huge variety of clothing, bras, and all kinds of stuff. The quality of their clothing is relative to the price, however they are usually damn better than the stuff you'd find in Australian shops. Their tshirts are pure cotton, fit very well indeed and are comfortable, with HUGE range of models and colours. (the "essential tee" is very similar in thickness and comfort to $30-40 Esprit tshirts, but cost about a third). Jeans and pants go from 30 to 36 inches inseam, a dream for someone 6ft tall like I am, and fairly good fit (depends on model etc), and in any case, $40 for pants this long is awesome price. The bras are ideal, go up to DD cup, and on sale start from US$12, in Australia I'd pay at least $50 for this level of quality, fit and prettiness. I've started buying clothing from them about a year ago, and honestly, there is no going back.
Anyway, here's the best thing - if you use code FA919873, you will get FREE international shipping on orders over $200, yay. Which means a saving of at least $46. It's valid until 12th January, and honestly, you won't regret it. This sort of voucher code comes up only once every blue moon, make use of it. :)
I'm in need of advice and maybe recommendations, Brisneyland. Especially from the ladies.
( Cut for ladyparts question. )
Hi!
How's Downtown on NYE? Does anyone have good/bad experiences to share? Advise? :)
Thanks!
Hi folks,
My leather lace up boots (Roc brand...type you'd see on school students and hospitality peeps) I use for work are grinding down their heels. I think I've ground down about 2 layers or 8mm off either side of each shoe. I'm leaning outwards and tripping a lot.
Any recs for cobblers that do resoling around the SouthSide area? Good price and quality of work a bonus. These are $100 pair of shoes that are only 5 months old but since they get worn 6 days/wk for 42 hours each time...better to resole the things than buy another pair. That's what end of financial year will be for haha. It's only the heels that need fixing anyway. Comfy.
Mister Minit in Garden City any good? Apparently they do 10% off if you have RACQ Membership...they cut my keys real nice but not sure on the cobbler thing.
Thanks all ~
Hello,
I am a Journalism student at the University of Queensland, and wanted to ask you guys some questions to help with a little background on my topic from real people. If you want to answer it would be really helpful, but please could you include your age, as this assignment is about different generations. And, if you don't mind your answer possibly being quoted in a University assignment (nowhere else) then please include your full name. It would be a great help guys!!!
Firstly, where do you guys get your news from?
Do you read newspapers, watch the news on TV, or get your news online, or any combination of these forms?
Is there a different level of trust in news that you read in the paper, watch on TV or read/view online?
And one more thing. Does anyone here actually create news content, for either online or offline media platforms? Does anyone write a news blog, for example, or has anyone contributed to one?
Thank you so much in advance for any insight into your news consumption or creation habits!
If for some reason you would like to say something in private, feel free to note me or email me at

Hello
On Saturday 19th in Brisbane Northern suburb of Red Hill, just before a huge rainstorm my second bird Riki got lost. She is white, hand reared and has a gree leg band. I hope that she has been found by someone, if that someone reads this.....
It's a long shot but I am trying everything I can think of.
Hello, Disneyphiles! I am hoping to pick your brains for a moment about some toys and a parade that I'm trying to identify the names of.
First off, I have these three pieces of toy sets that I know came from a Mulan playset and Lion King playsets.
The Mulan panel is from a really adorable Barbie-sized tea ceremony kit that also came with a pretty table, Barbie sized tea cups and teapot, pillows, and a little cage with Crickee in it on a tall stand.
The Lion King pieces are from something like a "Jungle Babies" series -- the swing set was for a baby cheetah you could pretend to feed with a bottle, and I think the playpen/changing table was for a zebra or also for the cheetah again. I'm almost positive that you could fill a little baby bottle with water and feed the cheetah and it would actually need its diaper changed.
Last year I was idly looking about at personal trainers and I found one in Brisbane whose specialty was training for dancers (besides just regular bog-standard training). I can't seem to find her now and Google isn't helping.
Any ideas of who she could be? Any other suggestions? My boyfriend and I are thinking of doing personal training together in the new year - he wants to improve overall fitness esp strength and flexibility (he's a geek who cycles occasionally) and since I do physical performance I want to maintain my fitness but have no real consistency!
I have a really vague memory of someone mentioning this recently on here so I thought I'd ask....
Is there a limit to how much rent can be put up between leases if you're staying on and renewing?
